As we near the end of another year, we at Compassionate Community Care (CCC) are deeply grateful for your ongoing support and encouragement. Together, we continue to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable Canadians—reminding each person that their life has meaning and that no one should ever feel alone.
Throughout 2025, CCC has been active across Canada and especially in Ontario with visitor’s and advocacy training sessions, and informational talks about our work in Peterborough, Cornwall, Walkerton, Mississauga, Toronto, and Ottawa.
Suzanne Lozinski and Kathy Matusiak Costa
Recently, Kathy Matusiak Costa was interviewed by a USA/Canada radio station about the work of CCC. Suzanne Lozinski, Program Coordinator for our seniors calling service, also had national and international media interviews. She spoke about the importance of reaching out to those who are isolated, depressed, or lonely. In May, Suzanne addressed a gathering in Ottawa, emphasizing the need for our services and how CCC continues to provide life-affirming support across Canada.
Our ability to instigate connections remains central—linking those in crisis to support, care, and community. One of our recent efforts connected supporters with a man hospitalized for over nine years, helping him receive funding, to provide for nourishment, and meaningful human connection. Other initiatives have connected individuals with safe care centres, personal support workers, and end-of-life assistance rooted in compassion.
Through our helpline, we continue to provide information, advocacy, and a listening ear to those who reach out for help. We call it our “hopeline” because it offers more than advice—it offers connection, care, and hope. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the CCC hopeline (1-855-675-8749) remains a beacon for anyone who needs someone to talk to. This winter, we are aiming to hire and train more team members to support the helpline.
Seniors in our calling program have shared, “It makes me feel a lot better when I am able to share some of my day with you… It is so good to hear your voice today. I have been waiting for your call.” We are launching community campaigns, including posting flyers for our free seniors calling program in long-term care homes, senior residences, and community centres.
As Canadians face difficult choices and conversations around end-of-life care, CCC stands firm as a voice for the vulnerable—offering compassion, practical support, and the reminder that every life holds purpose and dignity.
CCC’s Board of Directors has updated our mission, vision, and values:
Mission: We provide life-affirming support to help people live well until their natural death.
Vision: To transform communities with life-affirming connections so that every person experiences the richness of their life.
Values: Love, respect, truth, honesty, and compassion.
Join us in making a difference! As CCC grows to meet the demand for compassionate care across Canada, your involvement makes our mission possible. Your financial contribution of any amount helps us answer more calls, train more volunteers, and reach more people who need life-affirming support.
You can donate online via www.beingwith.org/donate, by e-Transfer to info@beingwith.org, or call 519-439-6445. If you feel called to help in another way, consider volunteering for the seniors calling service or sharing our message within your network.
Together, we are building a Canada where compassion, dignity, and love guide every life and every ending.
With heartfelt gratitude,
